The poem is written by Thomas Campbell.
This poem is written as Ballad and tells the story of young girl who without her father consult and ran away with her lover .
Lord Ullin is the father of the girl. Being lord of Ulva he consider himself to be more powerful. his young beautiful daughter is deeply in love with the cheiftain at the same place. Lord Ullins cannot
reconcile his daughter romantic relationship with the cheiftain , and daughter not able to forget the young cheiftain decide to run away with to run away with the cheiftain.
Lord Ullin not able to bear all this send three horsemen after to capture them and then slain the cheiftain.
The lovers trying to find a safe place run from one place to another but every time the horsemen would follow them and then they decide to cross the sea that streches from island of Ulva and Gribun . The name of sea was Lochgyle. The lovers thought that croosing the sea they will be safe.
They asked the boatman to ferry them across, but the weather had become hostile. The boatman sensing the weather didn't want to ferry them , but the cheiftain eager to go to the other side offer the boatman a silver coin. The boatman notice that the two people are in deeply in love with each other.
The journey of boat stood beetween their and their death. The boatman aggrees to row them for the sake of "Bonny" damsel in distress.
The weather was becoming more angrier than before , just then the lover heard the sound of horses running towards there , they got frightened and ask the boatman to row them fast .
Seeing the plight of the two lovers, the boatman’s heart melts.He sets out with the duo in his boat on the perilous journey. The weather worsens further making the journey very fraught. The ruthless storm blows without any remorse swaying the boat dangerously.Lord Ullin reached the fatal shore and was a while too late as his daughter and the lover were already beetwee the stromy sea and lord Ullin wrath was changed into forgiveness and affection and d allow them to marry them when his daughter streched her lovely hand for the aid , but it was too late and water fall over them and swept them away leaving Lord Ullin feeling remorse , guilty .

People think that love is a crime. They do not care about feeling about their children or sibblings , the only thing that they care about is the religion , the job they do and the salary they earn . They never care about the feelings of the two people and when they start to care about the feelings it always had been late and the two lovers always left them together to another life to reborn together.
